Mothers day

From Mother’s Burnout to Mumma’s Mojo

Possibly the largest section of our clientele is mothers who are struggling with low energy, low mood or anxiety and various symptoms their body is showing them

From birth, nursing, nappy changes, school runs and late night fevers in the earlier years to teenage angst, skin breakouts, first forays into relationships and part time jobs, mothers are the back bone of their children’s growth and development until they become independent. And really, they never stop being a mum and the children often don’t stop looking to mum for support.

Those are beautiful milestones and no mum would want to miss them. They do take energy, commitment, sacrifice and can leave said mum energetically bankrupt.

Adrenal tonics, nervines, hormone balancing, sleep support, immune boosters, digestive improvements. These are all properties of herbs we could not run a herbal dispensary without. Luckily there are many to choose from, so no two tonics are ever the same; each client receives their own individual formula. Rhodiola, Astragalus, Skullcap, Chamomile and Chaste Tree are often found in them.

When you’re literally making a new person from your own flesh and then nurturing that little life into adulthood, a loooot of energy is expended. Mums often have nutrient deficiencies, like iron, B vitamins, vitamin D, magnesium, zinc.

Mothers are women first and we like to look good. Dr Hauschka has biodynamic, crap-free skincare which feeds the skin and prolongs its beauty. Their makeup range is extensive and we stock the foundation, which is like colour matching skin food. I wear even if I’m not at work because skin doesn’t have to recover from it – it recovers because of it.

Natural deodorants, chemical free household cleaners, pure essential oils, room mists, nourishing snacks, functional and tasty teas…

It’s all available and because we know mums are stretched for time, we’ve curated the best of the best and assembled them in our clinic. Call us to make up a basket for yourself or your mum or drop in and browse and shop. We’d love to see you.

If you’d like dedicated time for you, book an appointment. There’s naturopathic consultations with Heidi for a deep dive into health, Reiki and holistic counselling with Adele and QHHT with Jane.

To borrow a phrase from Joe Dispenza, “Love yourself enough to do this”. You won’t regret it.

Adding Warmth

Even though we live in the semi-tropics here in Brisbane, the winters still get cold!  We acclimatise quickly and the difference in temperature from summer to winter is noticeable, regardless of the fact that there is no snow or frost.  While turning on the heater and wearing more layers are environmental adjustments to combat the

Calm Kava

Back when I was in student clinic in the final year of study, we were able to taste and sample herbal tinctures in the dispensary, so we could understand the medicines better. One evening we tried Kava Kava. I took a few drops of the tincture and promptly realised I would not be able to

Magnolia to Soothe Anxiety

One of my favorite herbs at the moment is Magnolia. Most of us are familiar with the beautiful flower and its magical scent, but for herbal medicine, the bark is of particular interest. In the clinic, we use it to calm the central nervous system, and help improve mood. It is able to do this
